The MSW Program at Roberts uses a multidimensional perspective to understand human behavior, functioning, and development across the lifespan. Human behavior and functioning do not occur in isolation but are influenced by a variety of factors across the personal, environmental, and time dimensions that interact with each other—think of these factors as a web of influence.

The purpose of this presentation is to assess your ability to critically analyze an issue impacting individuals in different life stages by using a multidimensional perspective. Then select an issue (e.g., condition, behavior, or event) pertaining to the developmental stage (CHILDBIRTH AND INFANCY) covered that particular week. Address the following:
- Select relevant theories, theoretical perspectives, and/or conceptual frameworks that help you explore and analyze the issue of infancy attachment difficulties/disorders within and across the personal and environmental dimensions. You are not expected to cover every subdimension under the personal and environmental dimension; instead, focus on those areas that you find particularly relevant to examine your selected issue (PARENTAL BEHAVIOR SUCH AS MATERNAL DEPRESSION AND ECONOMIC BURDENS OF PARENTAL EMPLOYMENT). As part of this discussion, make sure to critically reflect on how your selected theories, perspectives, or frameworks apply to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- For the time dimension, examine your selected issue through the lens of the historical era, linear time, or chronological age. For example, you can:
- EXAMPLE: briefly discuss how perceptions or knowledge around infancy attachment issues have changed over time.
- EXAMPLE: address how individuals experiencing infancy attachment difficulties tend to function over time based on research evidence
- Select at least SIX external sources in addition to the required textbook:
- Hutchison, E.D., & Charlesworth, L.W. (2021). Essentials of human behavior: Integrating person, environment, and the life course (3rd ed.). Sage
for this course to help you address the areas outlined above. At least FIVE of these sources need to come from peer-reviewed journals. Avoid using websites as one of the six main sources. Consult the librarian if you need assistance locating relevant materials. You are expected to use PowerPoint slides for your presentation and to present your work during the designated virtual class session. All sources need to be cited in proper APA style on the slides where the content is referenced (using in-text citation format) as well as the reference slide(s) at the end of the presentation.
- The expected length of this presentation is 10-12 minutes. This assignment will be evaluated based on your ability to select and integrate relevant sources as well as theories and conceptual frameworks to examine your selected issue from a multidimensional perspective. You will also be evaluated on your critical thinking and communication skills.
