This activity aims to increase your understanding of the role that support and recovery groups play in mental health and substance use recovery. You will attend a support or recovery group meeting (either in person or virtually) and reflect on your observations. Then, you will participate in a group discussion board to share your insights and engage with your peers.

- Choose a support or recovery group to attend. Examples include Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), or another relevant group (e.g., Grief Support, Overeaters Anonymous).
- You may attend either an in-person meeting or an online/virtual meeting.
- Ensure the group aligns with the focus of mental health, addiction, or emotional support and is open to observers or newcomers.

Objective:
The goal of this discussion is to foster scholarly dialogue in a respectful and professional manner. You will integrate your experience from attending a support or recovery group with an analysis of relevant literature and engage in meaningful exchanges with your peers.
Instructions:
- Initial Discussion Post:
- Write a reflection (no longer than 300 words) that incorporates your experience from attending the support or recovery group and examine how peer support influences recovery.
- Support your statements with relevant literature, ensuring your post includes an APA-formatted reference list that demonstrates the use of primary sources.
- Your reflection should address:
- Key observations about group dynamics and peer interactions.
- Analysis of the role of the facilitator (if present).
- Connections between your observations and existing scholarly literature on peer support or recovery.
- Scholarly Reference Requirement:
- Throughout your participation in this discussion, you are required to include a minimum of three (3) different scholarly references.
- These references should be integrated into your initial post and/or your responses to peers. Here’s what to keep in mind:
- At least three (3) different scholarly references must be cited.
- These references should be drawn from primary sources, such as peer-reviewed articles, textbooks, or evidence-based literature.
- All citations must be formatted in APA style and included in a reference list at the end of the relevant posts.
