Overview: This week (Week 3) we focused on employee onboarding and socialization in organizations. This assignment will help you review the class material and reflect on the topic. 

Instructions: 

a. First, please review the assigned materials below.

1. Read the “Different on the Inside” case study. 
2. Review this week’s content and HR Coffee talk with Professor Talya Bauer. 

b. Then, please respond to each question below:

1. How does the nature of a company’s interviewing process play a role in the socialization of a newly hired employee? For example, a three-month interviewing process vs. a one-day event. (3 points)

2. What can an organization do to make the employees’ pre-arrival stage beneficial for both the soon-to-be employee and the organization itself? (3 points)

3. Based on the case study “Different on the Inside”, Finer Foods uses experienced employees to serve as mentors to the newcomers. When is the best time for a company to “assign” a mentor to the newcomer? What part of the 4 C’s model does mentoring address? (3 points)

4. From the perspective of a future employee, what can you derive from this case study that will benefit you when you are a newcomer in an organization in the future? (3 points)

5. Based on what you learned from Talya Bauer’s HR Coffee talk, what suggestions would you have for Finer Foods to improve their onboard/socialization process? (4 points)
