Need answer to this question?

Objective:

To gain experience using literature searching tools in at least two different databases, to find the best evidence to answer a clinical question.

Instructions

Assignment Type: Written

Submission Requirements:

Limitations: 2 pages max

Content Requirements:

  1. The Problem Statement: Write one paragraph clearly describing your identified clinical problem using at least two sources of evidence (at least one must include data). The problem statement should logically lead to the PICOT question. Include the PICOT question at the end of your problem statement with the components clearly labeled.
  2. Search Strategy: Write a logical description of how you created and executed your literature search to answer the PICO question. The complete description should include at least two databases, rationale for why both databases were selected, identification of terms and how they were selected for each database as well as the limits used if any and why they were chosen for each database. You may only use the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, Scopus, PsycInfo, or Web of Science, unless approved by the instructor.
  3. Article Selection: Use the search strategy you devised in one of the two databases to find one article which will help your committee answer the PICOT question. The article must be a research-based and primary study (e.g., RCTs, quasi-experimental, qualitative, and descriptive). Do NOT select a pre-synthesized study (e.g., meta-analysis, systematic review, narrative review), guideline, quality improvement project, pilot project, feasibility study or study protocol paper. Note:  Each committee member should pick a unique article to complete this assignment.  Use your approved communication method to communicate your selections to your fellow committee members to avoid duplication.
  4. Article Relationship to PICOT: Compare how the population, intervention, comparison, and outcome from the article are related to (align with) your selected PICOT components using a table(see linked example Download see linked example).
  5. Appendix A & B (Search Strategy String Template): Document the search string showing the keywords and database specific terms, how they were combined, and limits for both databases. Be sure to include the full search strategy (string) on the template. Download template.
  6. Overall Style: Throughout your paper, use APA formatting including headers and citations. Write your paper using scholarly writing principles related to grammar and spelling conventions.
