Description: Primary care suffers from a lot of problems, says physician executive Douglas Eby. Clinicians often have to work too quickly to get to know their patients, which makes for unfulfilling work and an ineffective care model. At Anchorage-based Alaska Native Medical Center, however, things are different. The community and the organization’s leaders have developed a relationship-based model of care that has led to stunning clinical results — and made work much more rewarding for caregivers.

- by Jennifer Morrison-Diallo 9/15/2015 11:48:13 AM Regarding discussion question #3, I agree with this statement because if the person’s primary care needs are not, this can lead to much more serious medical problems down the road. If there were more preventative primary care in the health care system, some more invasive and expensive medical treatments may be able to be avoided.

I am a nurse practitioner working in a hospital owned urban community family health center with as you can imagine many challenges similar to what is described here as more patients less time less relationship.
