This is simply an expansion of The Library Scavenger hunt assignment you turned in earlier in Week 3. Here, you must do the following:
- Submit a complete bibliography of all sources for the final paper
- Provide a 1-2 page introduction of your final paper, built around your thesis.
- Expand the previously submitted ‘why I have chosen this topic’ section. Note: This is the last step you have to do before final submission at the end of the semester.
***So, IN ONE DOCUMENT, PLEASE COMPLETE THE ABOVE (SECTION A) AND THEN THE BELOW (B) AND SUBMIT THEM IN ONE DOCUMENT TO CANVAS***
Section B. take home, mid term exam 100 points
B1. Essay questions- 50 points each
(no length requirement; just answer it as completely as you can. However, I’d imagine a good answer—complete in its analysis— is probably 2-3 pages each minimum )
***-please note all questions deal with the course’s over-arching theme of Globalization
2-3 pages
- Does an open approach to globalization—less passport control and therefore more freedom of travel, less restrictions on trade, less restrictions to living abroad—lead to greater cultural diversity, more cultural literacy and sensitivity, and an overall positive view on the ‘global community’ or, sadly, does more cultural exchange lead to backlash in the form of hyper-nationalistic and prejudicial reactions and movements often anti- immigrant/anti-‘global’? In short: what is the connection between how human beings feel as ‘citizens of the world’ vs. ‘citizens of only my own country’ in relation to how freely they can travel, how freely they can trade, how freely they can live abroad and exchange cultures and ideas with each other?
2-3 pages
- We’ve read many articles on both 9/11 and the Covid-19 pandemic. Which event, in your opinion, has had a more profound effect on Globalization? Has this effect been
negative or positive (feel free to first define what you mean by ‘negative’ and ‘positive’); how, why, and, in conclusion, which of these two events will ultimately have a more lasting impact on American, and world, history?
***-For this feel free (both don’t feel obligated to do it this way) to approach the Question as
-explain 9/11 and its impact
-explain Covid and its impact
-compare and contrast similarities and differences.
-state your full answer ‘take’ on all this. You direct answer(s) to the above question.
