Financial Ratio Analysis and Investment Comparison: An Individual Excel Project

First Excel Assignment

This assignment is an individual project where you will be focusing on financial ratios for publicly traded companies.

Need answer to this question?

Step 1:

The textbook authors discuss a variety of financial ratios. Choose three ratios and calculate the financial ratios from each category for your company for the last five quarters. Select ratios that affect the company stock price and explain your reasoning.

Step 2:

Identify your company’s competitor, calculate the same ratios for that competitor, and contrast the results for the two companies over the most recent years. Explain why you selected this competitor. Describe how the decisions made by management impact your financial ratios.

Include a graph comparing each ratio for your companies side-by-side. Step 3:

Which company looks like a better investment? What financial ratios are more relevant given your analysis (parts one and two).

The list below contains the top 25 large-cap companies. Although you do not have to pick a company from this list, gathering information from these companies should be more accessible.
