Decision Making Activity #3

(“Making Group Decisions”)

In this activity, students will learn about group decision making.

Need answer to this question?

After students have become acquainted with group decision making by reading an article on the topic, they will write a 1-page summary of that article and respond to four discussion questions.

Please complete each of the tasks below in the order listed:

  1. Read an Article on Group Decision Making

Read this article that appears on the University of Minnesota website, by clicking on the link below:

Decision Making in Groups

The article covers three topics on group decision making: (a) the pros and cons of individual and group decision making, (b) the signs of groupthink, and (c) the different tools and techniques for making better decisions.

  1. Write a Journal Article Review Using APA 7th Edition Format

The review will contain these components:

  1. Title page (Page 1). Prepare a 1-page title page.
  2. Article summary (Page 2). Write a 1-page (double spaced, 12-pt. font, 1” margins) summary of the article. You may not use any direct quotations from the article or from any other source.
  3. Responses to several discussion questions (Page 3-5). At the bottom of the article, inside a blue-colored “Exercises” box, are four discussion questions. Respond to all four discussion questions.

Write at least two fully developed paragraphs for each of the discussion question responses. Since the instructor wants to see your reaction to the article—rather than the article author’s reactions—it is necessary to include items that provide your own insight, such as personal illustrations, personal knowledge, and personal opinions. First-person pronouns are appropriate in this section.

Use descriptive headings above each discussion question response that summarizes (in about half of a typewritten line) the content of your response to that question. You may not use direct quotations from the article or from any other source.

D. Reference page (Page 6). Prepare an APA-formatted reference page (on a different page) that contains one entry–the journal article. You are advised to consult an APA format guide in preparing the reference page for a journal article found through an electronic database.
