CHAPLAIN STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP PLAN ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

OVERVIEWThe chaplain’s ability to lead may best be actualized through clear insights regarding the chaplain’s calling, incarnational ministry, pastoral ministry, authoritative ministry, crisis/death ministry, mentorship, and self-care. These seven areas of concern can work synergistically for the chaplain leader. However, it is the chaplain’s intentionality and ability to plan well that brings theory to practice. Without intentional planning the chaplain’s potential leadership will not be realized. To this goal, this assignment will provide the student the opportunity to appraise how these seven areas of concern addressed in the course will be integrated to build an intentional plan at both the personal and ministry level.INSTRUCTIONSIn 1500 words, create a strategic leadership plan that addresses integration of your chaplain calling, incarnational ministry, pastoral care, authoritative ministry, death ministry, mentorship, and self-care. Your paper should provide clear insights on how you plan to integrate these seven areas of concern into your life and chaplain ministry to lead well.This plan must be treated as a research paper with a short introduction with thesis sentence (50 words), body (1400 words), and conclusion (50 words), and demonstrate interaction with Scripture and previous assignments. Include at least ten (10) references from interviews, books and/or scholarly journal articles, your course papers and interviews, and at least 10 applicable scripture references. The paper will be primarily judged on clarity of understanding of the seven focus areas presented in the course and integration of those concepts into a practical strategic plan of action for your life and ministry as a military chaplain. The plan must demonstrate a graduate-level use of the English language. This assignment requires critical thinking, logical progression of thought, and appropriate organization. In addition, you must meet the following standards of style and form:

  • Adhere to current Turabian format.Use 1″ margins on all 4 sides.Double-space your text.Use 12-point Times New Roman font.Indent paragraphs at 5 spaces (0.6″).Do not include extra blank lines between paragraphs.Use and italicize section headings.Include page numbers.Include a title page with your name, student ID number, course number/section, instructor’s name, and date. The title page does not count toward the required word count.Include a Contents page, an Introduction with a thesis sentence, a body with subheadings, footnotes, a conclusion, and a bibliography.
