This session, we will explore the evolution of the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) role from the beginning with Dr. Loretta Ford and Henry Silver rural pediatric nurse practitioner role to the the current diverse roles of advanced practice. We will explore the APN role development and evolution in APN education. Finally, we will examine the influence of Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring on advanced practice nursing.Welcome to Week 3The practice environment for APNs differs depending on the state of practice. This week will focus on the practice environments for the APN roles. Whether you are a FNP, leader, or educator student, you must be knowledgeable in the scope of practice acts in the states you practice. We must all be knowledgeable of the practice environments that impact advanced nursing practice. We will examine the states’ variations in scope of practice for ANPs and explore barriers to practice.
